Asantehene Returns From Trinidad And Tobago Trip

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has returned from Trinidad and Tobago.

He arrived in Ghana on Saturday evening after bringing his activities in the country to an end on Friday, August 4, 2023.

The five-day trip began on Monday, July 31 with courtesy calls to the President of the country, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT and later the Prime Minister, Dr The Honourable Keith Christopher Rowley.

His first official day ended with his participation in the Emancipation Day dinner and celebration concert at the Diplomatic Centre at St Ann’s.

On August 1 morning, His Highness graced the Emancipation Day procession at the Treasury Building in Port of Spain organized by the Emancipation Support Committee. From there, he attended the country’s Emancipation Day celebration as a Guest of honour at the Queen’s Park where he addressed the country.

On August 2, the occupant of the Golden Stool visited Desperadoes Pan Theatre in George Street in Port of Spain with the PM after a visit to Fort George which has some connection with Asante Kingdom, earlier in the morning.

He attended a luncheon by the Board of Directors and leadership of Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL), the parent company of Republic Bank {Ghana} PLC where the King called for diversification in their operation for economic development the next day.

The following day was spent at the St Augustine Campus of the University of West Indies (UWI) where he delivered a lecture.

He concluded his official visit on Friday with a meeting with the Ghanaian community in the country.

He was met at the Kumasi Airport on Saturday night by Daasebre Osei Bonsu, Mamponghene, Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia, Bantamahene, Nana Okyere Kusi Aduako II, Esumenyahene, Ogyeabour Amankwaah Adunan, Kuntenasehene, and other traditional rulers.

His Majesty’s first port of call upon arriving at the Manhyia Palace was the Palace of the Queen of the Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The visibly elated queen shared a hug with his brother in video footage that showed his arrival. He was subsequently given a rousing welcome by some royals in the Palace as always done whenever the King arrives from any trip.
