Education Ministry Condemns Violent Incident at Obuasi Senior High Technical School

The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned a violent incident that occurred at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing acts of violence and lawlessness in schools as “reprehensible and criminal.”

In a press release dated August 5, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Dr Clement Abas Apak, the Ministry said such conduct “has no place in Ghana’s educational institutions and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

According to the statement, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately investigate the disturbance.

The GES has also been tasked to apply appropriate disciplinary sanctions against any persons found culpable, in line with the laws and regulations governing the education sector.

“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that discipline remains the foundation of quality education and wants to assure the public that it will continue to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant state institutions to uphold discipline, safeguard school leaders and Students to ensure that schools remain safe spaces for teaching and learning,” the release added.
