TTAG to Embark on Nationwide Demonstration Over Postings

The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) will on Friday embark on a nationwide demonstration to protest delays and irregularities in the posting of newly trained teachers.

The Association says it has secured permission from the Ghana Police Service to stage the protest.

“Police headquarters has finally granted a nationwide permission to embark on the demonstration,” TTAG announced in a Facebook post.

Members are expected to converge at Independence Square in Accra at 12 pm on April 24, 2026, to begin the demonstration.

TTAG said the protest is to demand an “increment and proper order of posting” for trained teachers and trainees.

“Let’s all come together as trained teachers and trainees, let’s fight for our rights,” the Association stated.

The planned demonstration follows the opening of the application portal for the recruitment of 7,000 teachers.

The group deems the quota insufficient as the opportunity was open for 2023, 2024 and 2025 graduates.

Hundreds of graduates from the 46 public colleges of education say they have been left at home for months after completing national service, with no postings.

The opening of the 7,000-slot portal has heightened frustration among the backlog of unemployed trained teachers.

The Association maintains that the demonstration will be peaceful and has called on all affected teachers and trainees nationwide to participate.
