Canada-based Ghanaian Enstooled Kokofu Boafourhene

Mr Kwadwo Atuahene, a Canada-based Ghanaian has been enthroned as the Boafourhene of Kokofu Traditional Area.

Mr Atuahene takes the stool name Nana Atuahene Amoagyeme I.

The stool was purposely established for him by the Paramount Chief of the Kokofu Traditional Area, Barima Ofe Akwasi Okogyeasuo II, in recognition of his advocacy for unity among natives of Kokofu in Canada.

The stool is also an acknowledgement of his cause in drawing home development among Kokofu expats in Canada.

Before taking his oath of allegiance on March 14, 2024, Barima Ofe Akwasi Okogyeasuo gave credence to his contributions to the development of the town and urged him to leverage on his new position to lobby for much support to undertake developmental projects.

He recalled how his trip to Canada some time ago with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, brought him into contact with Mr Atuahene and made him conversant with his good works.

The stool is now an entrenched position for Mr Atuahene and his progeny, Barima said, noting, “The traditional position is bequeathed to you and your descendants.”

Taking hold of the sword, Mr Atuahene swore to stay true to Barima.

“I will obey the dictates of Barima,” he swore.

Swearing alongside the first Kokofu Boafourhene was Kyeame Kwasi Wusu. He takes the position of linguist to Boafourhene Atuahene Amoagyeme I.

Also taking his oath, he said, “Whenever and wherever I am called, I will be there.”

Speaking to Opemsuo Radio’s Johnson Owusu Aduomi after searing oath of allegiance, the Boafuorhene expressed his immense gratitude to God and the Paramount Chief.

“I thank God first of all. It is His doing. I also thank Kokofumanhene Barima Ofe AKWASI Okogyeasuo. This is a great honour to me and my family.”

His principal objective is to improve the sanitary condition of the town.

“My ambition is to ensure cleanliness thrive in this town. I will distribute garbage bags at vantage points. I will establish a committee to make sure people who litter around are brought to book.”
