I Want Mamponghene Buried Within 40 Days- Asantehene

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has charged the Asante Mampong Traditional Council to make all the needed arrangements for the burial of the deceased occupant of the Silver Stool, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, within forty days.
The Asantehene asserted that the remains of the late traditional leader must not be left unburied for an extended period.
At the Asanteman Council meeting on May 5, 2025, after officially receiving news of the passing, His Majesty directed that the requisite arrangements be made for the One-Week observation on May 12, 2025, and then his burial rites three weeks later.
“I don’t want this to take long. Within 40 days, I want everything to be done. The One-Week celebration must be held next Monday. In three weeks, I want to bury him. After that, we find a successor.”
In his speech, the Monarch highlighted the strategic sacrificial and eminent role Mamponghene Boahen Anantuo played which earned the Paramountcy the second in command privilege in Asante.
This privilege entails that occupants act in the stead of the Asantehene whenever he is absent.
As such, the Occupant of the Golden Stool charged all Paramount Chiefs to brace themselves for the burial ceremony.
“This has befallen the whole of Asanteman. Until I bury him, I won’t call for an Asanteman Council meeting.”
Otumfuo in his speech also ordered traditional authorities within the Asante Mampong Council to smoothly collaborate with the Queen in making all the needed arrangements.
“Elders of Mampong must collaborate with the Queen for the needed arrangements. She is the caretaker and you are assisting her. After all the arrangements, you come to inform me.”
