Asantehemaa Nana Yaa Akyaa II Is Direct Granddaughter of Daasebre Otuo Siriboe I

The newly enstooled Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, is the direct granddaughter of Juabenhene Daasebre Otuo Siriboe I, who reigned from 1906 to 1933.

The late traditional ruler, who shared the same stool name as the current Juabenhene, Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, fathered 46 children, among whom was the father of the current Queen.

Addressing the Kumasi Traditional Council chaired by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on July 9, 2026, Nana Juabenhene traced the familial ties.

He recalled that Kwame Anane Siriboe, the fourth son of Daasebre Otuo Siriboe I, fathered Odeyie Ama Bonsu, also known as Margaret Siriboe, who has now become Queen, and her brother, following a relationship with their mother, Nana Adwoa Akyaa.

“The Queen is therefore our granddaughter,” Nana Juabenhene said, barely able to hide his joy, describing it as great news.

He also traced a familial tie between the Queen Mother and the New Juabenhemaa.

“She shares the same father with her. They are half-sisters. The New Juabenhemaa is currently abroad and can’t wait to return and pay her homage.”

The Paramount Chief of the Juaben Traditional Council passed through the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting following a courtesy call on the Queen Mother at her palace.

He said the visit was to affirm their commitment to the success of the Queen Mother.

The large entourage of the Juabenhene included Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, New Juabenhene, and Nana Akosua Akyamaa IV, Juabenhemaa.
