We Are Grateful for Manhyia’s Partnership- Archbishop of Canterbury
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally, has expressed gratitude to the Manhyia Palace for its long-standing partnership with the Anglican Church.
During a courtesy visit to the Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, on July 29, 2026, she singled out the Manhyia Palace for its enduring support to the Church.
“We are grateful for the partnership, and it is an honour to come to pay tribute to Your Majesty. It is an honour that you are part of the Anglican Church,” she added.
Her Grace further acknowledged that the Anglican Communion spans more than 160 countries and commended Ghana for its steadfast Christian faith.
“Ghana has kept the faith, and I love this country,” she said.
Welcoming the Archbishop, Nana Yaa Akyaa II expressed joy at hosting her and wished her well in her engagements across Africa.
The engagement with the Asantehemaa preceded a courtesy call on the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Archbishop, accompanied by her husband, Eamonn Mullally, is on a pastoral visit to Ghana and Cameroon in the Church of the Province of West Africa at the invitation of the Primate of West Africa, Archbishop Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith.
Her visit to Africa began on July 25 and will end on August 4, 2026.
