Asantehene Formally Announces Asantehemaa Enstoolment
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has formally announced the enstoolment of a new Queen Mother in succession to the late Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The announcement was made to the Kumasi Traditional Council on July 9, 2026, during a meeting at the Manhyia Palace.
“I have selected my niece as Asantehemaa. Her stool name is Nana Yaa Akyaa II,” Otumfuo stated.
In accordance with tradition, the Gyaase Division, which is in charge of the Manhyia Palace, presented drinks and cash to the Kumasi Traditional Council and the Asanteman Council.
Following the closure of the Council meeting, Otumfuo visited the palace of the new Queen Mother to personally welcome her.
Members of the Council also took turns to pay homage and affirm their support for Her Majesty.
Enstoolment
Born Nana Ama Bonsu and christened Margaret Siriboe, Her Majesty was named and enstooled on July 6, 2026, by the Asantehene.
She ascends the Kusiamoa Stool as the 15th Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom.
She succeeds Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, who peacefully joined her ancestors in August 2025.
