Health Ministry Temporarily Closes Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College Over Student Unrest

The Ministry of Health has announced the immediate and temporary closure of the Nursing Training College, Techiman Krobo, citing persistent student unrest and breakdown of rules on campus.

In a press release issued on July 29, 2026, and signed by Tony Goodman, Head of Health Training Institutions, the Ministry said the decision was taken to restore calm and protect lives and property.

“The temporary closure is intended to restore calm, protect lives and property, and allow appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps toward reopening the College under conducive conditions,” the statement noted.

According to the Ministry, the closure follows several meetings, counselling sessions, and appeals by stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council, to encourage dialogue and restore order.

Despite these efforts, some students have continued to engage in conduct that disrupts academic activities and threatens the peace, safety, and administration of the institution.

All students were directed to vacate the campus peacefully and return to their respective homes by 5:00 PM today, Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Parents and guardians were also advised to make the necessary arrangements for their wards.

Meanwhile, the Ministry assured stakeholders that every effort will be made to resolve the situation promptly.

It added that information regarding the reopening of the College will be communicated through official channels in due course.

“The Ministry appreciates the understanding, cooperation, and support of all stakeholders as we work to restore a safe and disciplined learning environment,” the release added.
