Asanteman North America Donates to Heal KATH

A pro-Asante group, Asanteman North America, has donated US$1,000 towards the refurbishment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The group was represented by its leader, Mr Osei Kwame, at the fifth Akwasidae Festival held at the Manhyia Palace.

The donation was made on behalf of Asantes in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Sicily, Washington, and other U.S. states.

Mr Osei said the donation was in fulfilment of their pledge to annually support the cause.

“Two years ago, I came to pledge to donate towards Heal KATH each year. I am here on their behalf to celebrate Akwasidae and donate US$1,000,” he said.

About Heal KATH
The Heal KATH project is a US$10 million revenue mobilisation drive being championed by the occupant of the Golden Stool.

The initiative seeks to renovate the dilapidated structures of the second-largest hospital and the only tertiary health institution in the Ashanti Region.

At the launch of the Heal KATH project in November 2023, the then Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, disclosed that plans to renovate the hospital had long been on its radar but had to be shelved due to lack of funds.
