GFA Thanks Otumfuo After Victorious Qualifier Against Angola

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed its sincere gratitude to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his support and counsel leading to the victory of the Black Stars against the Black Antelopes of Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

 

Ahead of the game, some officials of the Black Stars and the GFA called on the King at the Manhyia Palace.

 

Their courtesy call coincided with the second Akwasidae of the year 2023 which fell on March 19.

 

The delegation which included the head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, Vice President of the GFA, Mark Addo, Assistant Coach of the national team, George Boateng and the Chairman of the Division One League Board who also doubles as Vice Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, Akwasi Agyemang.

 

The delegation officially introduced the head coach to the King, informed him about the game against Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and sought his blessings.

 

They also presented replica jerseys of the senior national team with the name of the King inscribed on the back to him.

 

After the game which saw a 1-0 victory in favour of the Black Stars, the GFA issued a statement of gratitude to the King.

 

“First and foremost, we would like to thank the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for offering his wise counsel and support.”

 

The second leg will be in Luanda, the capital city of Angola on March 27.

 

Ghana is still leading Group E with 7 points- in three points lead to Angola.
