GA/R: Police Arrest Five Suspects, Retrieve Firearms and Ammunition

The Accra Regional Police Command, in a joint intelligence-led operation with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), has arrested five suspects and retrieved firearms, ammunition and other offensive items at Sapeiman Faase in the Accra Region.
The suspects arrested on July 17 have been identified as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50; Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22; William Kweku Sedanu, 21; Cyril Kassenu, 26; and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18. They are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.
A search of the suspects’ premises led to the retrieval of one pump-action gun, one Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, one dummy Austria pistol, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round, one jackknife, two kitchen knives, one face mask, one talisman and other items.
“All exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes,” a police statement reported on July 20, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects are members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities.
Police allege they used the recovered weapons to terrorise residents within Sapeiman and its environs.
The Command said efforts are ongoing to establish the suspects’ involvement in other robbery cases and related criminal activities, and to apprehend any additional accomplices.
The Accra Regional Police Command commended members of the public for providing credible information and urged residents to remain vigilant.
It further encouraged the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through Police emergency numbers.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the Region,” the statement added.
