Asantehene Reviews Regional Police Command Petitions Involving Nananom

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reviewed petitions received by his office from the Regional Police Command regarding disputes and acts of violence involving some traditional authorities.

Presiding over the Kumasi Traditional Council on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Asantehene detailed acts of violence involving these rulers.

Almost all the cases relate to land disputes, including: Banmuhene vs. Kwansantuohene; Nana K. Gyasi vs. Kyerepatrehene; Aberankese Nyameanihene vs. Pramsohene; Antoahene vs. Aburahene; Bantamahene vs. Anamrakohene; and Sewuahene vs. Awuamhene.

His Majesty further directed the Registrar to schedule dates for the hearing and resolution of these cases.

Otumfuo chastised traditional leaders, including Bantamahene, who opted to use the services of security officials to exert authority over some lands.

“I gave you the land. If there is any dispute, why not come to me to inform me? I should be the first port of call in these cases because the land belongs to me. I allotted it to you,” he said.
