Any Decision We Take After GFA Meeting Will Immortalise Pooley- Kotoko

Asante Kotoko SC are up to take a tough decision on their future in the Ghanaian football landscape after a crunch meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The decision, it assured fans, would immortalize their gallant supporter who was killed in a melee that characterized their last game against Nsoatreman FC at Nsoatre on February 2.
It also envisions the decision to be in the interest of the club.
This was announced in a statement on Tuesday acknowledging the invitation from the Ghana Football Association for a meeting over the incident on Thursday.
“To our cherished supporters, we assure you that whatever decision the club takes after our engagement with the Football Association will be one that forever honours the memory of our late supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, and upholds the supreme interest of Asante Kotoko.”
“We will honour this invitation and lead the charge to ensure that this painful moment serves as a turning point for Ghanaian football, it is time to end the cycle of violence, hooliganism, and lawlessness that threatens the integrity of our game.”
Kotoko noted that they shall not be swayed from the two objectives until “true” justice and lasting reforms are realised.
Ardent Asante Kotoko fan, Frimpong Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death following the 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC.
This followed a melee that marred the game at Nana Koramansah Park at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.
He died at a hospital while receiving treatment, Kotoko confirmed in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Porcupines alongside four players have been charged for failing to control players and anti-footballing activities respectively during the game.
