A/R: Fire Ravages Phone Shops, Warehouse at Adum

Several phone and accessories shops, along with a warehouse, have been destroyed after a fire swept through parts of Adum in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday morning.
The blaze is believed to have started around 6:00 a.m. at the Pat Thomas Phone Shop and an adjoining accessories shop before spreading quickly to nearby structures.
Traders say erratic electricity supply in the area may have triggered the fire, noting that there had been intermittent power cuts earlier that morning.
Eyewitnesses reported unstable power for some time before smoke was seen billowing from the building.
Two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, with personnel battling the flames for hours to stop them from spreading to adjoining buildings.
Shop owners scrambled to salvage goods, but many were left in tears as months’ worth of stock was consumed by the fire.
Security personnel, including police and officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), were on ground to maintain order and assess the damage.
No casualties were recorded.
The Ghana National Fire Service is yet to establish the exact cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, affected traders are appealing to the Electricity Company of Ghana to fix the unstable power supply to prevent similar incidents.
