Asantehemaa Hosts Welcome Reception for Otumfuo

The Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, has hosted a traditional welcome reception for the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following his return from a trip abroad.
He was in the United States of America for a lecture at Howard University in Washington, D.C., the Akwasidae festival, the Millennium Excellence Awards and other high-level engagements.
On his return on September 3, 2026, the Asantehene called on the Asantehemaa at her residence inside the Manhyia Palace, where she had prepared a reception for him.
The engagement, which is in accordance with Asante tradition, was used to present himself to and brief his traditional mother on the outcome of his mission abroad.

Courtiers of the Queen gathered in the courtyard where they sang and danced joyously at the sight of the Asantehene, who also joined them in singing.
During the visit to the United States, he delivered a lecture at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on the theme “Governance, Cultural Preservation, Traditional Leadership and the Enduring Connections Between Ghana and the Global African Diaspora.”
He also observed the Akwasidae festival and held high-level engagements with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., among other key activities.
