GoldBod, EOCO Move to Combat Gold Smuggling, Illicit Financial Flows

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has held a high-level meeting with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to discuss the development of a joint operational framework to combat crime in Ghana’s gold sector.
The meeting was held under the auspices of the Ghana-UK Gold Programme.
According to officials, the engagement focused on the development of a GoldBod-EOCO Operational Collaboration Framework aimed at strengthening joint efforts to combat gold smuggling, money laundering and other gold-related illicit financial flows within the sector.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both state institutions to protect the integrity of Ghana’s gold value chain, disrupt criminal networks and ensure that the country derives maximum economic benefit from its gold resources.
Through stronger information sharing, coordinated enforcement and institutional cooperation, GoldBod and EOCO seek to build a more transparent, accountable and resilient gold sector that supports national development and curbs illicit activities.
