Transport Operators Submit Request For Review Of Public Transport Fares

The leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) has announced that it has submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport for a review of public transport fares.
The announcement was contained in a joint press release dated September 3, 2026, and signed by Mr Godfred Abulbire, General Secretary of GPRTU of TUC, Ghana, and Mr Emmanuel Ohene Yeboah, General Secretary of GRTCC.
According to the statement, the submission is in line with the Administrative Instrument and forms part of the established consultative framework for determining and reviewing public transport fares.
The Unions explained that the framework takes into account various inputs that go into the operations of commercial road transport services.
The leadership assured the general public that engagement with the Ministry of Transport will soon commence and the outcome of the deliberations will be communicated in due course.
“We therefore urge all drivers, station masters, transport owners, and the general public to remain calm and await the outcome of the process,” the statement said.
