U/ER: Manhunt After Tricycle Rider Assaulted Police Officer
The police have launched a manhunt for a tricycle rider in the Upper East Region.
The rider is reported to have assaulted a police officer in the course of discharging his duty at Garu on October 6.
This was when the said officer and Community Protection Assistants were conducting stop-and-search operations along the Garu-Nakpanduri road.
“The team intercepted a tricycle loaded with sacks of groundnuts and passengers sitting on top. When the officer instructed the rider to stop and park properly for inspection, he became aggressive and attacked the officer.”
The suspect is said to have fled the scene on his tricycle.
An investigation has since been initiated into the incident with efforts underway to arrest the tricycle rider and ensure he faces the full rigours of the law.
