Negotiation Over 2025 Minimum Wage Commences

Negotiation over the minimum wage for 2025 is underway, the government has announced.

A committee made up of the Government, Employers, and Organised Labour/Associations began the processes on Monday, February 3.

Currently, the minimum wage under implementation stands at GHS 18.15 per day.

“The National Tripartite Committee, represented by Government, Employers, and Organised Labour/Associations, commenced negotiations on the determination of the 2025 Minimum Wage yesterday, Monday, February 03, 2025,” the President’s Spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye said in a statement.

After this is concluded, he said negotiations over base pay for public sector salaries will follow.

The government has since urged the stakeholders to expedite their negotiations to avoid delays beyond April.

“Given that negations for both the minimum wage and the base pay for the 2025 financial year are behind schedule – as they were expected to be completed by the end of April 2024, per the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act – Government is calling on social partners (government, employers, organised labour) to work expeditiously to complete the negotiations in time to inform the 2025 Budget.”
