Obuasi SHTS Closed Indefinitely After Attack on Headmaster, 6 Arrested – MCE

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has announced the immediate closure of Obuasi Senior High Technical School following an attack on the Headmaster, Mr Abdulai Zakaria, which left him injured and hospitalised.
In a statement to the Obuasi community, Municipal Chief Executive Faustilove Appiah said the decision was taken by the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) after an emergency security assessment.
According to the MCE, the Headmaster was swiftly taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for urgent care following the incident at O’Sec Tech.
“My heart and prayers go out to him and his family for a full recovery,” she stated.
Commending the police in the Municipality for their swift action, professionalism, and prompt response in handling the crisis, she disclosed that police have already arrested six individuals in connection with the attack and that investigations are actively ongoing.
The MCE cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, noting that until police complete their full, official investigations, “everything circulating out there remains mere speculation.” She appealed to residents to refrain from sharing rumours.
“As your Municipal Chief Executive and Head of the Municipal Security Council, my highest priority is keeping our students, teachers, and community safe,” she said. “Violence against our educators has no place in Obuasi and will not be tolerated.”
The Assembly assured that it will provide updates on next steps and on the eventual reopening of the school once thorough security reviews are complete.
