Ghana’s UK Mission Announces Scholarship Validation for GSA-Sponsored Students
The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom has announced plans to conduct an Oath of Affirmation and Scholarship Validation Exercise for all Ghana Government-sponsored students studying in the UK.
In a public notice issued on August 5, 2026, the High Commission said the exercise is being carried out in accordance with a directive from the Ghana Scholarships Authority and is pursuant to Section 31 of the Ghana Scholarships Authority Act, 2025 (Act 1149) and Section 11 of the Oaths Act, 1972 (NRCD 6).
According to the Commission, the laws require beneficiaries of government scholarships studying outside Ghana to personally subscribe to an Oath of Affirmation before a designated officer of a Ghana Diplomatic Mission.
The exercise forms part of the Government of Ghana’s measures to strengthen compliance, accountability and responsible stewardship in the administration of government scholarships for studies abroad.
It will also be used to validate scholarship records and reaffirm beneficiaries’ commitment to return to Ghana upon the successful completion of their studies, in line with the conditions of their awards.
To make the process more accessible, the Education Section of the High Commission will organise sessions at selected locations across the UK.
Students have been encouraged to report to the venue closest to them on the scheduled date. Further details on regional venues and appointment arrangements will be communicated directly to affected students.
Students who wish to travel to London may complete the exercise at the Ghana High Commission, 104 Highgate Hill, London N5 6HE, strictly by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays between 1:00 pm-2:00 pm and 2:00 pm-3:00 pm. Appointments should be booked in advance by emailing.
The one-month exercise will run from Thursday 13th August 2026 to Friday 4th September 2026. The High Commission urged students to ensure all documentation is complete before attending to avoid delays in the validation process.
The Commission reminded students that participation is mandatory under Section 31 of the Ghana Scholarships Authority Act, 2025. It cautioned that a breach of Section 31(1) may attract consequences under Section 31(2) of the Act, including delays in payment of tuition fees.
