Korle Bu Won’t Be Accepting Brought-in-Dead Bodies in Upcoming Weeks

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has ceased taking in fresh dead bodies or Brought-in-Dead (BID) bodies, management has announced.

This is in response to plans to renovate the hospital’s cold room facilities for storing human remains.

This, it noted, will not apply to cases originating from Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The aim, it said, is to improve its services to the general public.

“The Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital wishes to inform the general public, especially bereaved families, that the hospital is undertaking a refurbishment of its cold room facilities to improve service delivery,” it said in a statement.

The facility will therefore not be taking bodies in the next six weeks while the bereaved families with deceased relatives in the mortuary for three to six weeks or longer have been urged to make immediate arrangements for burial or transfer to alternative facilities.

It added, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation as we work to enhance our services.”
