Health Ministry Sets Up 7-Member Committee to Probe Techiman-Krobo Nursing College Unrest

The Ministry of Health has constituted a 7-member committee to investigate matters concerning the recent unrest at the Nursing Training College, Techiman-Krobo in the Bono East Region.

The committee will be chaired by Prof. Vida Nyagre Yekong, Deputy Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Authority, a nurse, and former Dean of the School of Nursing at the University for Development Studies.

The other members are Mr. Ahmed Bennett Mumuni, Human Resource Manager of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council; Nana Asa Akon Panin, Techiman-Krobohene; Mrs. Hepthzebah Gyimah, Deputy Director of Operations and representative of the Nursing and Midwifery Council; Mrs. Isha Sena Iddrisu, Secretary to the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions; Nashiru-Deen Akparibo, President of the Ghana Nurse-Midwife Trainees’ Association; and Dr. Inua Yussuf Issahaku Esq., Legal Director of the Ministry of Health.

According to the Ministry, the committee is expected to establish the facts surrounding the issues that led to the unrest in the school.

It will also review and determine whether existing policies, code of conduct and administrative procedures have been complied with, and make recommendations to the Minister for Health for appropriate action.

The committee has been directed to submit a comprehensive report to the Minister on or before August 11, 2026.

The Ministry has called on students, management and other stakeholders of the college to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
