7 Casualties Recorded in Collision on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Seven people have been recorded as casualties following a serious road traffic collision on the N6 Highway at Birimso Bridge, involving a fuel tanker, an STC bus, a Mitsubishi pick-up and a KIA Sorento.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service, the incident involved a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi Pick-Up with registration number GE-8602-17, a KIA Sorento GT-8601-14, and an STC Bus GS-7050-22.
The GNFS said the fuel tanker, the STC Bus and the Mitsubishi Pick-Up were completely destroyed by fire, while the KIA Sorento sustained extensive damage.
Firefighters from the Bunso Fire Station, led by ADOI Samuel Doe, and the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, led by ADOI Moses Quaye, were deployed to the scene and worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
Personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service in Koforidua were also at the scene to manage traffic and assist with investigations.
“Seven (7) individuals — two (2) females and five (5) males — were casualties. Two were reported…” the GNFS statement said. Further details on the condition of the victims have not yet been released.
The Service noted that the situation is currently under control.
“We entreat motorists and other road users to cooperate fully with fire officers on the ground as they work to completely extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of everyone,” the statement added.
Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
