NACOC, NIB Make First Arrest in $296m Meth Shipment Probe

The Narcotics Control Commission, NACOC, and the National Investigations Bureau have recorded their first arrest in an ongoing investigation into a 320kg methamphetamine shipment worth $296 million on the street.
The haul was traced to a storage facility in Girraween, Australia, in April 2026, the Commission said.
NACOC described the arrest as a “significant breakthrough” in efforts to unmask the syndicate behind what it called a record-breaking haul.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, investigators are now working alongside international partners to track down remaining suspects believed to be part of a wider, multi-jurisdictional network.
“This arrest marks a pivotal moment in a coordinated international effort to dismantle the sophisticated transnational syndicate,” NACOC stated.
“This development is a critical step in our ongoing mission to disrupt high-level narcotics trafficking.”
The Commission added that the arrest has provided “vital intelligence” to help identify and apprehend additional members of the global criminal network.
NACOC reiterated its commitment to collaborating with international law enforcement agencies to safeguard the region from the influence of large-scale drug trafficking organisations.
