GJA Reconstitutes Statutory Committees Ahead of 77th Anniversary
The National Executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has reconstituted its Statutory Committees in line with Articles 30, 31 and 32 of the Association’s 2004 Constitution.
The move, according to the GJA, is to support the effective administration, professional development, governance and strategic growth of the Association, and to assist the National Executive in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
In a statement, the Association said the reconstituted committees bring together seasoned journalists, media managers, and experienced professionals whose expertise and commitment will contribute significantly to advancing the GJA’s objectives.
The Membership Vetting Committee will be chaired by GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour. Members include veteran journalist Kissi Yeboah, formerly with the Ghana News Agency; GBC Editor-In-Chief Seth Eyiah; Daily Dispatch Newspaper Editor Peter Ankomah; and Peace FM presenter Nana Yaa Konadu.
GJA Vice President Rebecca Ekpe will chair the Professional Development Committee. The members are former GJA General Secretary and Wisconsin International University College lecturer Kofi Yeboah; Ghanaian Times Assistant Editor Cliff Ekufful; GNA Chief Editor George Ramsey Benamba; and Multimedia Group’s Head of Joy Brands, Kweku Owusu Peprah.
The Social Affairs Committee will be led by GJA Organising Secretary Suleiman Mustapha. Serving with him are GBC Editor Isaac Owusu Asare; former GJA Vice President Linda Asante Agyei; Daily Analyst Newspaper Editor Isaac Nuamah Yeboah; and UTV Editor Maame Efua Mensah of the Despite Media Group.
GJA General Secretary Dominic Hlordzi will chair the International Relations Committee. The committee members are Graphic Communications Group Limited Foreign Editor Mary Mensah; freelance journalist Zambaga Rufai; GNA Deputy News Editor Ken Sackey; and The Publisher Newspaper Editor Yaw Obeng Manu.
The Finance and Resource Mobilisation Committee will be chaired by GJA Treasurer Bertha Badu Agyei. Members include MIIF Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations Charles Benoni Okine; former GJA Treasurer Audrey Dekalu; GBC Senior Manager Nii Odartey Lamptey; and Graphic Communications Group Limited Deputy News Editor Michael Ocquaye.
The National Executive said it is confident that the wealth of experience, professionalism and diverse expertise of the committee members will strengthen the work of the Association, promote high professional standards, deepen member engagement and support the implementation of strategic programmes for the benefit of journalists nationwide.
The committees will be officially sworn into office on Monday, August 17, 2026, during the 77th Anniversary Lecture and Symposium of the Ghana Journalists Association at the British Council in Accra.
