Sewua Hospital Road to Be Completed Next Month – Amoakohene
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has informed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, of plans to complete the Prabon and Sewua roads by next month.
Speaking at the Akwasidae festival on July 19, 2026, he said construction works were being undertaken by Kofi Job Construction Limited.
According to him, the completion of the roads is to pave the way for the operationalisation of the Sewua Hospital to ease pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Addressing the durbar at the Manhyia Palace, he said, “Prabon and Sewua will be completed next month to make way for the opening of the hospital.”
He also informed Otumfuo that another contract has been awarded to Kofi Job to construct the long-delayed Bosomtwe road afterwards.
He further briefed the gathering on other road projects, including the Ejisu–Ofoase–Kwaso–Esiem–Bonsokrom–Bekwai road.
“Last Monday, President Mahama directed the Roads Minister to award the contract to Kofi Job,” he stated.
The Regional Minister also reported that construction of the Ejura, Fomena, and Dompoase roads is ongoing.
On the Suame Interchange, he said the government intends to complete three flyovers at Post Office, Magazine, and Abusuakruwa this year.
“Once completed, the President will tour Kumasi to inspect it,” he added.
Other Road Projects
He further stated that President Mahama has decided to allocate 10km of road construction to all districts under the flagship Big Push project.
In addition, he said the government is planning to develop farm roads under an extension of the Cocoa Roads program.
He also reported that the right of way for the Ahodwo–Santasi road has been cleared to pave the way for construction to begin.
Health
In the health sector, he reported that the Catheterisation Laboratory construction at KATH is steadily ongoing.
“The contractor told us it will be completed this year when I last visited with the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), Obuobia Darko,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said GH₵400 million has been paid to clear the debt owed Consar Construction to enable the completion of the first phase of the KNUST Medical Centre.
