W/R: Police Arrest Four Over Gold Robbery

The Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a robbery syndicate believed to be responsible for a violent attack on a gold dealer at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa area.

The arrests follow a robbery reported on March 11, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m.

According to the police, the complainant, Mr Orls Oduro, stated that after closing his gold-buying business at Tamakloe, he hired an Okada rider to transport him to his residence at Wassa Akropong.

While on the way, they were attacked by armed men who robbed them at gunpoint. Items taken during the attack included GH¢24,000 in cash, seven pounds and six matches of gold valued at GH¢94,530.00, an iPhone XR and a Tecno Spark 12 mobile phone.

Following the report, police immediately commenced investigations into the incident. Intelligence-led operations conducted on July 21 and 22, 2026, at Duaso and Domeabra led to the arrest of Kwabena Amuah, 25, alias IK, Mohammed Nasir, 28, alias Mallam, Samuel Agyei, 24, alias Okese-1, and Kofi Gyasi, 26, alias Brefo.

On July 23, 2026, the suspects were arraigned before the Wassa Akropong District Court, where they were remanded into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

The Western Central Regional Police Command said it is actively pursuing the remaining suspect, identified as Agogo, and is urging anyone with credible information regarding his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

The Command has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining peace and security, and bringing all perpetrators of crime to justice.
