Former legislator for the people of Manhyia North, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah, claims the fight against illegal mining is a shared responsibility of which nobody should be left out.

The fight against illegal mining has reached crescendo, and the need for the citizenry to support the Government to halt the activity has become a necessity.

Water bodies, vegetation and others are being destroyed at the mercies of illegal mining.

And according to the brave aspiring Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive Officer, the Government should not be seen fighting the menace alone, but various institutions like the Environmental Protection Agency, Lands Commission and Traditional Leaders should get themselves involve.

In an exclusive interview with Opemsuo radio morning show, Nkwantannanso, he expressed that, The fight against illegal mining is a shared responsibility which we must all get ourselves involved.”

“The onus to develop our country is on each of us, our shoulders, and and we must all get involved. It is sad how we are being affected by this illegal mining.”

He reckoned that various institutions have failed woefully a reason we are here talking about the activity of illegal mining.

“Various enforcement agencies like the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Lands Commission as well as our traditional leaders have failed the country in the fight against illegal mining. If they will be responsible, we shall overcome this fight.”
