ECG Goes Cashless

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) no longer receives hard cash for the payment of bills or the purchase of electricity credit.

The new era began on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

This is meant to reduce long queues and improve the delivery of service for customers.

Customers have three options for paying their bills. First is by dialling the shortcode *226#; through banks by taking a deposit slip from an ECG office; or in person.

Customers who choose to make payments at ECG offices are directed to load their cash on their mobile money wallets first.

Payments made through mobile money will not be affected by transaction charges such as the Electronic Transfer levy.
