Parliament’s Legal Committee Begins Review of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill

The Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs has commenced a three-day meeting in Accra to consider the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
The meeting brings together key stakeholders and partners for deliberations on the proposed legislation.
The Committee is expected to review provisions of the Bill, take input from stakeholders, and assess its alignment with the 1992 Constitution and Ghana’s international obligations.
The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill seeks to promote what its sponsors describe as Ghanaian family values and to address issues related to human sexual rights.
The Bill has generated significant public debate since it was first introduced in Parliament.
Proceedings are expected to continue through the three days, after which the Committee will prepare its report for Parliament.
