Police Arrest Minor and Driver Over Viral Video

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man in connection with a viral video showing the minor driving a heavy-duty articulated truck on a public road.
According to the Service, the 34-year-old suspect is the driver of a DAF XF 105 articulated truck with registration number GS 3097-20. Both suspects are currently in the custody of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Accra, assisting with investigations.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed the minor behind the wheel of the heavy-duty vehicle, raising concerns about road safety and child welfare.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service cautioned parents, guardians, and vehicle owners against permitting minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, particularly heavy-duty trucks.
“The Service reminds parents, guardians, and vehicle owners not to permit minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, particularly heavy-duty trucks, as such acts endanger lives and violate the Road Traffic Act,” the statement said.
The Police also urged members of the public to support efforts to promote road safety by reporting such incidents and ensuring responsible road use.
