Two VIP Jeoun Coaches Attacked by Armed Robbers on Accra-Kumasi and Kumasi-Sunyani Highways

The Management of VIP JEOUN Transport Company Limited has confirmed two separate armed robbery attacks on its coaches on the night of July 30, 2026.

According to a press release issued on July 31, 2026, the first incident occurred at about 23:00 hours GMT on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, between Apedwa Junction via Nkronso, Akooko and Akyem Asafo.

Armed robbers used a vehicle to block the highway and engaged in banditry, with three VIP JEOUN coaches caught up in the blockade.

The company said robbers shot repeatedly at one coach travelling from Accra to Sunyani. The driver, mate and three passengers sustained injuries in the attack. The driver has since been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.

Police officers from Suhum in the Eastern South Region responded to the scene, repelled the robbers, and cleared the highway to restore traffic flow.

In a second incident at around 01:00 hours GMT, armed robbers attacked another VIP JEOUN coach at Potrikrom on the Kumasi to Sunyani Highway.

The robbers shot at and damaged the coach’s windshield. However, an armed escort on board repelled the attackers. No passenger was injured in that attack. A police patrol team also arrived at the scene.

VIP JEOUN said it values the security of passengers and crew on board and remains committed to ensuring hassle-free transportation.
