KNUST Is Fortunate to Have Otumfuo as Chancellor – Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Dr Julius Debrah, has said the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) stands fortunate to benefit from the leadership of its Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the investiture of Prof. Christian Agyare as the 13th Vice Chancellor of KNUST on August 1, 2026, Dr Debrah praised the Asantehene for his contribution to the growth and stability of the university.
“KNUST has been fortunate to benefit from your counsel, protection and vision. Your presence as Chancellor has brought stability, continuity and the conviction that excellence must always be joined to service,” he stated.
Dr Debrah described Otumfuo as one of the most respected traditional leaders in this generation whose standing has been earned through wisdom, moral authority and lifelong commitment to the wellbeing of people.
He noted that the Asantehene has shown that traditional leadership remains firmly rooted in history while responding boldly to the needs of the present.
“Through your works in education, thousands of young people have received opportunities that might have otherwise remained beyond their reach. Through your advocacy for peace, you have helped resolve disputes, preserved social cohesion and reminded us that dialogue is stronger than division,” he said.
The Chief of Staff added that Otumfuo’s support for institution building, health, culture and economic development demonstrates that the dignity of the traditional office is ultimately measured by the lives it touches.
On behalf of the President, the Government and the people of Ghana, Dr Debrah expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for his enduring service to the university and to the nation.
“On behalf of the President, the Government and the people of Ghana, I thank you for your enduring contribution to this university and national life,” he said.
