KMA Demolishes Unauthorised Structures Around Baba Yara Stadium in Joint Exercise with Military

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s Operation Team, with support from the military, on Thursday carried out a demolition exercise around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to remove unauthorised temporary structures.

According to the Assembly, the affected structures did not conform to KMA’s specifications and were erected without proper authorisation.

Officials said the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Assembly to restore order, improve safety, and ensure strict compliance with its directives in and around public facilities.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium area has in recent months seen an influx of makeshift shops and kiosks, which the KMA says pose security risks and obstruct movement, especially during major events.

The Assembly has cautioned that similar enforcement actions will continue across the metropolis to reclaim public spaces and maintain standards set by the city authorities.
