Kumasi Airport Vicinity Drains to Be Dredged After Flooding

Drains around the Kumasi Airport and its surrounding areas will this week be dredged following extensive flooding in the area.
The aftermath of the heavy downpour on Saturday, May 17 saw the airport roundabout inundated with floodwaters. This created traffic in the area as cars were forced to park for the water to recede.
Videos of the occurrence have since taken over social media, with many calling for the adoption of flood management plans.
In response to this, the Regional Minister announced that a desilting exercise will be undertaken to forestall recurrence.
“This week, we’ll desilt the choked drains around the airport — a major cause of flooding.”
