Graphic Honours Otumfuo’s Chief Of Staff

Mr. Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has been honoured by his former employers, Graphic Communication Group Limited, as part of activities marking their 70th birthday celebrations.

Mr. Atto Afful, Managing Director of Daily Graphic led a delegation made up of Mr. Kobby Asmah, Editor and Mr.Franklin Sowah, Marketing Manager to do the presentation.

Mr. Afful disclosed that Mr. Badu continues to be his Managing Director Emeritus and he still has a portrait of himself and his former boss, Mr. Kofi Badu, on his desk. He could not hide his joy and profusely showered blessings and accolades on his former Managing Director.

He further disclosed that “ when we say Graphic then it’s you, Mr. Badu, and when we see Mr. Badu, we see Graphic. The President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented awards to all past Managing Directors in a colorful event on Saturday, October 25, 2020 in Accra and since you were not able to grace the occasion, we deem it an honour and appropriate to do the presentation to you today.”

Mr. Afful presented a plague, citation and souvenirs to the octogenarian and venerable Chief of Staff to His Majesty Otumfuo Asantehene.

Mr. Kofi Badu beaming with smiles and showing appreciation thanked the team from GCGL and went on to elaborate his time spent with the biggest and widely circulated newspaper industry in the country and a company working to empower humanity with true information and help build a global society whose members are well- informed and can freely express their opinions and take other’s opinions as well as make informed choices because they have facts, whether about products, services or state policies.

“I started my life at Graphic and ended my public life at Graphic. I can’t forget about the fond memories and the hard work we put in to ensure the company became productive. Graphic has always been part of my life, the company made me my university and it nurtured me. Ghana’s history had been shaped in many ways by GCGL and contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the nation,” he stressed.

Mr. Kofi Badu was Managing Director of Graphic Communication Group Limited having rose through the ranks from 1973 to 1976 and 1983 to 2000, becoming the longest serving ever Managing Director of Graphic. It was during his tenure that Graphic transformed becoming the biggest selling newspaper in the country. He brought total transformation and he is regarded as the best ever Managing Director GCGL has ever had. His accomplishments are written in gold in the history of the company.
