KNUST’s True Legacy Is Lives Transformed, Not Just Degrees Awarded – VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, has asserted that the university’s 75-year legacy cannot be measured by degrees alone.
According to her, the impact of the institution is also reflected in the lives it has transformed and the opportunities it has created for Ghana and beyond.
Speaking at the launch of KNUST’s 75th Anniversary celebrations, she affirmed that the institution has produced generations of graduates whose contributions have shaped the destiny of Ghana.
“Today, KNUST alumni occupy positions of influence in government, industry, academia, medicine, engineering, business, law, science, technology, creative arts, etc. Their contributions stand as testimony to the quality training that this institution has consistently provided,” she said.
Tribute
She further paid tribute to Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Kwame Nkrumah, farmers, traders, and market women whose sacrifices helped build KNUST.
“Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh, whose foresight ensured that the dream of a university in Kumasi became a reality. His singular effort in granting this large piece of land to the university, which Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has protected with all his energy, is deeply appreciated by this university,” she added.
“We are grateful to the government of Ghana and the people of Ghana, both past and present, and all our development partners for how far we have come.”
