Kwamanhene to Chair Launch of Ashanti Prisons Medicine and Equipment Bank

Nana Debrah Boateng Bediako II, Kwamanhene, representing Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will chair the official launch of the Ashanti Regional Prisons Medicine and Equipment Bank (PMEB) on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The event will take place at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi and is being organised by the Ashanti Regional Prisons Command.
According to the Ghana Prisons Service, the PMEB is designed to address critical healthcare and equipment needs within the Service.
It will establish a sustainable bank of medicines, medical supplies and healthcare equipment for inmates, prison officers and their dependants across the Ashanti Region.
The bank is a key component of the Service’s “Think Prisons 360 Degrees” transformation agenda, which focuses on rehabilitation, welfare and improving living conditions in correctional facilities.
The Ashanti Regional Prisons Command has appealed to the public, corporate organisations and well-wishers to support the landmark welfare initiative.
Officials say sustained donations of medicines, equipment and funds will be needed to keep the facility stocked and functional.
