The first son of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles has taken over as the British Monarch following the death of the Queen.

The 96-year-old queen passed away on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral castle in the afternoon, according to the British Royal Family.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow”, they announced in a statement yesterday.

Immediately, Prince Charles took over the kingdom and issued a statement saying the queen’s passing is “a moment of the greatest sadness for me”.

He is now King Charles III.

The coronation for King Charles, 73, will be held later.

Queen Elizabeth reigned for 70 years, the longest reign ever among the past British monarchs.

Tributes have poured from various sections of the world in honour of the late queen.
