Hearts Call For Assistance To Expose Match-fixing Claims

Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak has extended an invitation to sports journalist Wisdom Osei Bonsu for assistance in his match-fixing allegations.

This was contained in a press statement on Monday.

The journalist popularly known as Darling Boy Pierro during a show on one radio station alleged some players of Hearts played matches of convenience in some of its recent league matches.

“During his submission on the programme, Wisdom Osei Bonsu revealed that some Hearts players had prior knowledge of the outcome of their games, thus making it a match of convenience,” the Club said.

The statement noted that the management of the Club is concerned about the poor performance of the club this season and is determined to whip out any criminality accounting for that.

It, therefore, called on the journalist to assist it to “get to the bottom” of the matter.

It noted that any player found culpable will be punished.

Hearts of Oak has put up a poor performance in the current season having won 12 of 32 matches played and lost 11 with 9 draws.

The Phobians have given up their chase for the league title as it sits in eighth place with 45 points. It has two more games to end the season.
