Black Stars New Coach Carlos Queiroz Arrives in Ghana Ahead of Today’s Unveiling

Newly-named Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has touched down in Ghana to take up his new role as head coach of the Black Stars, arriving last night to begin work ahead of his official unveiling today.

The experienced Portuguese trainer was met by a strong reception from fans and officials at the Kotoka International Airport, underlining the excitement surrounding his appointment. He is expected to be formally introduced at the Alisa Hotel on Thursday, April 23.

Queiroz takes over from Otto Addo after Ghana’s disappointing results against Austria and Germany in the March international window.

The former Real Madrid and Iran boss is expected to begin work immediately with his technical team, reportedly arriving with about five backroom staff members. Some changes are anticipated within the existing setup as he restructures the team to suit his philosophy.

Key figures expected to form part of his staff include long-time assistant Roger De Sa, goalkeepers’ trainer Daniel Gaspar and opposition scout Pierre Bazie.

Following his unveiling, the Ghana Football Association will present him to Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports, as part of official procedures.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia and Panama, with Queiroz expected to lead the Black Stars into the tournament with renewed ambition.
