Legendary former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has sent a powerful message of unity and support to the current squad as Ghana prepares for their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama.

Gyan congratulated the 26 players selected for the tournament, drawing parallels with the golden generation that inspired him.
“To the 26 warriors named for the World Cup: Congratulations. The nation believes in you. I believe in you, just like my golden generation believed in the Blazers,” he said.
The former captain called for Ghanaians to put aside differences and unite behind the national team.
“To Ghana and all Ghanaians in the diaspora: let’s put our differences behind us. Football is the greatest game that unites us. Let’s come together once again and give ultimate support to the Black Stars. We have another opportunity to market the Ghana brand through the World Cup, let’s do it again.”
Gyan also extended appreciation to key stakeholders, including President John Dramani Mahama, Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams, GFA President Kurt Okraku, and the entire football fraternity.
He ended on an emotional note: “Win, lose, or draw… we’ll all be smiling together if we stand as one. Go make us proud, boys. Ghana is behind you!”
The message has been warmly received by fans as the Black Stars gear up for their Group L campaign, which begins against Panama on June 17.
