Asantehene Redefines Borderless Business

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has redefined borderless business, challenging international investors and corporate leaders to embrace cross-border economic expansion rooted in strong moral responsibility and social equity.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at a high-level Power Breakfast Business Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the Monarch addressed an international delegation gathered under the theme, “Borderless Business: Connecting Ghana and Canada Through Trade, Investment, and Partnerships.”

Otumfuo redefined modern global commerce, firmly asserting that true borderless business must never mean operations stripped of local accountability or financial investment completely devoid of conscience.

The King emphasised that the traditional corporate pursuit of unbridled profit margins at the expense of local communities, detailing a progressive framework for international trade.

“Borderless business does not mean business without responsibility. It must not be an investment without conscience. It must not be profit without people. It must be opportunity without exclusion, partnership without exploitation, and prosperity shared with dignity.”

The Asantehene explained that his mission at the economic summit directly mirrors the deeply ingrained governance systems of his kingdom.

His Majesty cited a timeless Asante traditional adage, noting that when elders sit in Council, they do not deliberate exclusively for their own benefit.

“They deliberate for the farmer in the village, the trader in the market, the apprentice learning a skill, the widow seeking justice, the chief carrying responsibility and the stranger who comes in peace. It is in that spirit that I speak today.”
