Tracking the Asantehene’s Canadian Tour
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is currently in Canada on an official working visit which commenced on Monday, June 15, 2026.
His Majesty was warmly received upon arrival by H.E. Myriam Montrat, Canada’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, and General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, former Chief of the Defence Staff of Ghana, alongside other distinguished guests.
Among the prominent delegation accompanying His Majesty are Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Juabenhene, and Nana Effah Appenteng, Bompatamanhene.
Day 2
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the Asantehene will begin his day with a Power Breakfast Business Meeting, where he will serve as the Special Guest of Honour and deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Borderless Business: Connecting Ghana and Canada Through Trade, Investment, and Partnerships.”
The high-level meeting will take place at the Woodbine Banquet Hall, located at 30 Vice Regent Blvd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 7A4.
Later in the day, Otumfuo will receive Ekow Nimako, a renowned Ghanaian-Canadian artist, who will present a custom artistic gift to His Majesty at the King’s residence.
The Monarch will conclude the day’s activities with a vital visit to the Black Stars at their team hotel to motivate the players and offer his royal blessings to boost their morale and national pride.
This special visit takes place just twenty-four hours before the team’s highly anticipated World Cup opening match against Panama.
Day 3
His Majesty will kick off the third day of his tour with the official opening of the Ghana Sports Village and an accompanying traditional Durbar at what is popularly known as Sankofa Square.
The landmark event will feature a grand durbar amidst rich cultural displays to officially open the Ghana Sports Village to the general public.
The gathering will offer members of the resident Asante community and the broader Ghanaian diaspora a rare opportunity to greet and pay formal homage to Otumfuo.
Later that evening, the Asantehene will graciously honour an invitation to BMO Field, the host venue for the Ghana-Panama World Cup fixture, to watch the game live and offer his maximum support to the senior national team.
Day 4
On Wednesday, June 18, 2026, the Occupant of the Golden Stool will embark on a private golf session in the morning, followed by a scenic road trip to Niagara Falls, which will include a special lunch at a local winery.
Day 5
A second premium golf session is scheduled for His Majesty on Thursday, June 19, 2026, at the Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre, located at 8525 Mississauga Road, Brampton, L6Y 0C1.
In the evening, a prestigious Black-Tie Dinner event will be hosted in honour of the Asantehene to network with international diplomats and corporate leaders.
Day 6
On the final day of the working visit, Otumfuo will hold an exclusive town-hall engagement with the Asante Community in Canada before officially departing the North American country.
