Asantehene Constitutes Committee to Probe Derma Dispute
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene has constituted a committee to investigate the royal lineage of Derma.
This is in a bid to put to rest the litigations over the royal households for peace to reign.
It comes as three individuals from different families lay claim to the stool as heirs, challenging each other’s claims.
During the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on February 3, 2025, the Asantehene named Nana Kwaku Duah Agyemang, Taahyenhene, Nana Mensah Bonsu, Kaasehene, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene and Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Otumfuo Kyeame to constitute the Committee.
While constituting the committee, Otumfuo noted that the case had been pending for quite a while and urgently needed a resolution.
“It is high time we looked into it and settled it to make way for peace,” His Majesty stated as he charged the committee to do thorough work to find the true owners of the stool.
“Your work is to find the woman for whom the stool was established and trace her descendant. We don’t want those who later occupied the stool over time.”
