Go and Submit to Adumasahene; I Won’t Destool Him – Asantehene to Dikro

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, says he has no plans of destooling Nana Amankwaa Kodom Ababio, Adumasahene.

The message was relayed to Nana Akuoko Mensah, the Adumasa Dikro, when the Kumasi Traditional Council convened on February 3, 2025.

Nana Mensah had invoked the oath on three different occasions against his lord claiming he had neglected him after helping him ascend the stool; had been falsely accused of cutting trees at Baamu; and the chief’s attempt to enstool an individual who had sued the Queen as Baamuhene.

All these accusations were denied as twisted by Adumasahene before the Council as he explained the candidate he intended to enstool indeed sued the Queen but later realized his fault and beseeched Kokofuhene to apologise on his behalf. Later, he said, the said individual requested for the Baamu Stool which the Queen readily admitted.

However, he said in the course of enstooling him, Akuoko invoked the Great Oath stalling the process.

After hearing both parties, the Asantehene inquired of Akuoko’s intention for his actions.

“Do you want your uncle destooled?” A question he fumbled to respond.

The King therefore clearly noted that Nana Amankwaa Kodom Ababio would continue his reign on the stool.

“You knew him {Nana Amankwaa Kodom Ababio} and you followed him here with your Queen to get him enstooled. You were available but your mother chose him over you to reign. I have no plans to destool him. Go and be subject to him. These are family issues which should be settled indoors.”

Meanwhile, Otumfuo urged the chief to take care of his nephew.
