Otumfuo Mourns With The People Of New Juaben

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II yesterday made a grand entry to Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital to mourn the death of the Paramount Chief and Queen-mother of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng, and Nana Yaa Daani II.

The Asante Monarch was accompanied by a huge entourage from Asanteman to commiserate and to supervise the final funeral rite of the late New Juaben paramount chief and queen-mother.

Before the arrival of the King, the euphoria at the capital was indescribable as residents of New Juaben and its’ environs stormed the Koforidua city center to wait and to catch a glimpse of the arrival of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

On the king’s arrival to Koforidua, he made a stop at Adweso where his presence was announced in the city by Otumfuo Atuntofuo (Gunmen) by firing guns.

The King proceeded to the funeral grounds around 6:49 pm together with various Paramount chiefs and divisional chiefs amidst the crowd who had filled up the streets to cheer him up.

The King sat in state at exactly 7:00 pm, and by custom, presented some items to Juabenhene Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, who is a brother to the late New Juabenhene, Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng.

Juabenhene in return thank His Majesty for his presence at his brother’s funeral and also updated the king about what has transpired at the funeral and the arrangements they have put in place to have a befitting burial for the late Omanhene.

Asante’s traditional culture and customs were at their peak today at New Juaben. One has to admire the presence of power, authority, and tradition as Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made a grand entry to Koforidua, New Juaben.
