Kwapong Nursing Training Dormitory Razed by Fire

Seven dormitory rooms at Kwapong Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Ahafo Region have been razed by fire.

The fire, which broke out early in the morning on October 31, is reported to have started in one of the rooms on the first floor of a one-storey dormitory block.

It gradually spread through six other rooms on the same floor, destroying the roof, ceiling, personal effects, books, beds, and bedding, a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service said.

Firefighters from the Kukuom and Goaso Fire Stations in the Ahafo Region responded to the scene, brought the blaze under control at 8:45 a.m. and finally extinguished it at 10:26 a.m.

“Two fire extinguishers on the affected floor also exploded during the incident. Firefighters were able to salvage the ground floor of the affected building from the fire ruins.”

They further salvaged the ground floor of the affected building from the fire.

An investigation has commenced to determine the actual cause of the fire, and fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
